Description:
Hemispherical metal helmet curves to straight slightly lowered brim. Rivet on top attaches metal "X" to which leather and felt liner attaches. Pivoting hardware links on opposite sides under brim have gold bias tape chin straps threaded through them. Leather lining is laced together with rawhide at one end and has stuffed leather pad at center top
Notes:
World War I helmets were initially issued to soldiers at beginning of World War II. Donor says bolt and pad at top of head was very painful.
