Description:
Redpoll from the Birds of Glacier Bay series. Wood engraving print and block framed and matted together. Print is on proper left side of frame. Print is on off—white paper. Print itself is rectangular. The block print is black and has hand colored pinkish—red and yellow details with colored pencils. Print is a Redpoll bird sitting on a branch with four leaves. The bird is within a yellow oval. The corners of the print have a floral motif. Underneath the print is handwritten pencil text reading: "Redpoll 1/25 D.DeArmond — imp c 95". The "c" is enclosed in a circle as the symbol for copyright.
The wood engraving block is on the proper right of the frame. It is inset, like a shadow box, so that the front is flush with the front of the print. The front face of the block has black ink on its non—cut surfaces. The print and blocks are opposite each other )and the two birds face inward). On the bottom face of the block is handwritten text in black ink which reads: "Redpoll" and there is an arrow after the word pointing "up" to the engraved face. On the proper right face of the block there is handwritten text in black ink which reads: "Redpoll".
Frame is red wood with a tan mat. The back has a blue paper dust cover, clear bottom bummers and a hanging wire. Back of frame has certificate of authenticity and information on artist Dale DeArmond. A silver sticker is along the lower edge at center and reads "rie munoz" and has an stylized illustration of a person holding a fishing pole and fish.
The Certificate of Authenticity is a piece of white paper with black ink. It lists the artist name, tittle, medium, block size, paper, record of printing, when and where the print was pulled and comments. It also has the artist's signature at the bottom.
The information on Dale DeArmond is a white piece of paper with black text. It has the image of a poster used by the Rie Munoz Gallery with an image of Magic Kayak by Dale DeArmond. A photograph of Dale working also accompanies the information.
