Cork Life Preserver From Ferry "Amy"

Description:
Life preserve for gas boat "AMY" has ten sections each 12.0 inches by 4.0 inches. by Cork blocks covered with canvas fabric and held together by 1.0 inch strip of red striped fabric in center. Strap on outer edge to secure preserver on person, has one button. Large black letters on three blocks.
Inscription: "AMY" on second block
"Dec. 22, 1933" on 1first block
"PASSED — 4TH — JUNEAU 5TH GAS BOAT" on third block
"BLOCK CORK Manufactured by L. Mundet & Son Inc. New York" on other side.

The "Amy" was commissioned by Juneau Ferry & Nub. Co. in 1913, then in 1913 purchased by Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co. She towed dumping barge into the 1930s, then made into tug in 1936 or 1938. See AHL photos.
