A: Transit
Complex black and silver metal instrument. Looks like a miniature telescope. Top is a telescope attached to a vertical wheel. Telescope swivels top to bottom. There is a tripod like structure underneath the telescope. The tripod attaches to a circle that swivels left and right. The base screws onto the base.

B: Bracket that holds transit into the case
Rectangular silver metal stand. In middle there is a round threaded piece for transit to fit onto. There are 8 metal bars that extend from the middle and reach the outside.

C: Case
Large wooden box. Painted green. The door

D: Transit shade
Small black metal cylinder. Hollow.

E: Tool
Silver metal took. Rectangle with slanted front with circular cutout. Back has two skinny legs.

F: Replacement Level Bubble, Large
glass tube with black lines on front. Filled with liquid, but has enough room for an air bubble.

G: Replacement Level Bubble, Small
glass tube with black lines on front. Filled with liquid, but has enough room for an air bubble.

H: Eye Piece
Small black metal circle. Top comes up and has hole in it.

Used to determine elevations and distances in the field. The transit, a telescopic instrument with two parallel lines in the scope that are used to intercept intervals on the Stadia Rod, the intervals being proportional to the distance between the transit and the stadia rod.
