Description:
Large heavy machine auger has "L" shaped wooden frame. Attached horizontally to vertical section under double arch shaped metal piece with latch is round bar. At either end of bar at right angles is curved metal handle — one curving upward and opposing one downward. Attached to each end is smaller wooden handle. Vertically attached to horizontal piece is another metal bar that spirals to point (auger bit).
Notes:
Donor's father, Glen Oakes, was stockkeeper/wharfinger for A.J. Mine. Started at Treadwell 1913, then to A.J. 1916. Retired 1962. (Pat Oakes, daughter).
