Description:
A — 2.25 inches by 1.5 inches gold—colored badge in case. Eagle with wings spread, head turned, facing proper right, at top of badge. Signs of flaking surrounding "of". Small rectangular piece of cloth tape "6" on reverse side of badge.
B — 8 inches by 2.5 inches leather case, outside flap, top proper left on crease has small gold—colored, worn area.
Inscription: A — "PATROLMAN / DOUGLAS POLICE DEPT. / TERR. OF ALASKA"
Notes:
Douglas Police badge was given to Douglas Library about 1996 & placed in exhibit case there. Librarian who passed it on to us was unable to remember who donor was.
Douglas Police was absorb into the Juneau Police Dept. at time the 2 cities government were combined into a borough government in the '60's.
