Description:
"76 Union" crate. Wooden four—sided crate with no top or bottom. One of the shorter ends has a blue painted square and the remaints of a paper sticker on its exterior face. The interior face of that same end has red—brown paint and blue text reading: "NET CONTENTS \ 2—5 U.S. GAL \ CANS". The other shorter end has a painted blue square and text reading "UNION OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA" on its exterior face. The interior face of the second shorter end has blue text reading: "NET CONTENTS: \ 2—5 U.S. GAL \ CANS \ 76 \ UNION".
Notes:
The collection is assumed to have been collection from the old AJ Generator Shed in the Last Chance Basin. The collection was on long term loan to the Alaska State Museum from the 1960—1970s until December 2013 when the Alaska State Museum dismantled their mining.
