Description:
Ham Radio in a wooden box, painted a dark green—gray. Corners of box are reinforced with metal pieces. The front is blank. There are two metal latches which keep the lid closed over the box's base. One is located on the proper left side and one on the proper right side and attached to the exterior of the box. There is a small circular hole on each the right and left side near the front edge. The back has three metal hinges attached to the lid and the base. A vertical cloth handle is located in the center of the backside of the base section of the box. There is a piece of tape on the back with handwritten text which reads: DEAN WILLIAMS \ JNU". The bottom side of the box has a circular hole in it through which a turnable black knob attached to the radio is visible. The lid is missing the proper left side and the front side. Top has three empty screw holes. Inside the lid is a cylinder piece of wood with a screw in the center. In the base of the box is the main radio components. It is made of metal and plastic. There are various knobs, switches and faces on the top of the radio. Attached to the base and resting in the lid is a metal speaker. A wire with frayed ends is coming out of the corner of radio base.
Inside the lid is a metal plate with text reading: "SIGNAL CORPS U.S. ARMY \ RADIO TRANSMITTER & RECEIVER \ FOREST SERVICE TYPE \SPF \ SPOKANE RADIO CO. NO 500A \ SERIAL NO ORDER NO \ SRC 617 I817—PHILA—43".
