Title:
"Auto Lite" Carbide Miner's Lamp
Description:
A carbide lamp made of metal covered in a layer of brass. This lamp is two pieces, "A" is the lamp itself and "B" is the reflector. The lamp is two parts, that cannot become unscrewed or apart: the base, which houses the calcium carbide, and the upper lamp cylinder for the water. The lamp works by combining water and calcium carbide into a mist that is then lit on fire by the reflector's lighter. The amount of this mixture is controlled by a switch on top of the lamp. The reflector has no nut to tighten it down so it is a separate entity from the lamp. Molded on the top of the lamp is, "Auto—Lite Reg U.S.A. Pat. Office" and "Universal Lamp Co., Chicago , U.S.A." and the word "on" in the left corner. On the bottom is another label, "Auto—Lite" in big letters with "U.S.A. Universal Lamp Co. Patented".
