Description:
Wooden assay balance with glass panels.
Rectangular wooden framed glass cabinet with vertical sliding front door. A small blue label which reads, "Scientific Supplies Company / Seattle U.S.A. / Laboratory Apparatus and Reagents" is affixed to the top of the sliding front door. A small brass knob centered below the sliding door can be turned to adjust the height of the assay balance. Below the glass panels is a small wooden drawer. A balance and two small plates are located within the glass panels. The entire wooden frame rests on three small metal legs.

The top of the wooden assay balance in labeled in orange, "8061" and again in blank ink, "USBM 8061".

Notes:
This was the assay balance used in the assaying lab to weigh samples, flux, and reagents when the assay lab was in operation.
