Description:
Oil paint sketch of a saint on canvas cut out in shape of trefoil arch. Saint is clad in purple and grey robes, cradles long handled battle ax in proper left arm and raising his proper right hand in gesture. Saint has halo and curly brown shoulder—length hair. Large plant with purple daisy—like flowers rises from lower proper right corner up to saint's waist. On reverse "#83 10/23/88" written in black marker. "St Thadeus" written at top front in water—based paint. "Puablus" in pencil below.
Notes:
Painting is oil sketch of saint on front of foremost pews in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at corner of 4th & Gold. Frances & Montgomery Davis were instrumental in building of Church in 1886 & Frances did 6 altar painting as well as 12 apostles on pew fronts.
