Description:
Undyed cotton rectangular bag. Stitched completed on 3 sides. Top is open. PL corner has yarn tie 8 inches long. PR top corner has logo of cat in bag with 'BEMIS SEATTLE" (bagmaker?) Front center has reddish—gold with blue logo consisting of eagle with wings outstretched on shield with words: "GOLD EAGLE POTATOES". Upper corners of shield has spears coming from behind them. Above logo "WASHINGTON (blue, outlined—in—red) / U.S. RUSSET NO. 1" (U.S. & NO. 1 are blue; RUSSET red). Below logo "SHIPPED BY JOHN GOURLEY CO. INC. SEATTLE WASH 25 LBS. NET". On reverse stamped "B.F. MCDOWELL JUNEAU____" in black

B.F. McDowell owned Bert's Cash Grocery at 211 Seward, then Bert's Food Center at 224 Seward St. He was also Mayor of Juneau in the 50s or 60s.
