Platinum Wire Tool
Skinny glass rod with piece of rolled paper inside, there is a platinum wire coming out of one end. The opposite end is broken off. The paper is burnt on one end and says "...agy — Dec. 1959 — US Bur. of M."
Notes:
Wire is platinum.
Used to test samples for the presence of elements. A sample of the material being tested is placed on the tip of the wire. The wire and sample are then held over a flame. The sample will turn a certain color and that color will help to identify the presence of certain chemical elements within the sample.
