Truncate Softshell (Mya Truncata)
Description:
Two complete, attached bivalve shells, white with opening at truncate end. Papery remains of plants outside shell. Irregular lumpy growth rings. Off—white. Interior is shiny white with muscle scars on both ends. Concentric rings outside.
A — 2.625 inches by 1.75 inches by 1.25 inches showing yellow.
B — 2.125 inches by 1.5 inches by 1.125 inches.
A — 2.625 inches by 1.75 inches by 1.25 inches showing yellow.
B — 2.125 inches by 1.5 inches by 1.125 inches.
Notes:
Donor's label reads: "Truncate Gaper Clam — Mya truncata about 2 1/2" long; shell oblong; truncated edges flaring. Found on Pearl Harbor Beach."
