Description:
A — U.S. Army canteen, kidney—shaped, with plastic cap fastened to canteen by metal chain. Ridge around center of canteen. Material believed to be tin, then enameled with black paint.
B — Kidney—shaped aluminum "pot" or "cup" with handle 4.5 inches high that folds under cup and locks in place. Canteen fits into aluminum cup.
C — Canvas cover. Stamped "U.S." on one side in black letters. Other side shows manufacturer's name in black letters. Cover is "olive drab" color with metal fastener on back to fasten canteen to user's belt. Two metal snaps on front to secure canteen in cover. Inside is padded with gray, felt—like material.
Inscription: A — "U.S. REP 1942"
C — "U.S." & "Scott Mfg. Co., 1942".
