Surveyor's Transit in storage box.
A — Instrument. Exploration Alidade. Adjustable scope with a bubble level beneath. Wheel in the verticle. Compass in the horizontal. Frame printed: "W. & L.E. GURLEY, TROY, N.Y., U.S.A.". Two bubble—levels. Bottom half consists of dials and knobs to level the instrument.
B — Storage box/Carrying case. Wooden, painted dark gray. Leather handle, brass hardware. Remains of several airline stickers are adheared to the top. Lables tacked to the inside.
C — Instrument Stand. Rectangular, aluminum, circle at the center onto which the instrument threads
D — Lens Shade. Tube that fits over the end of the instrument's scope.
E — Lens Cap — Screws onto the large end of the scope
F — Vial Holder. Wooden with brass hardware that attaches it to the proper left inside of the carrying case. Three holes are drilled into it and plugged with a soft fabric. These holes are designed to nest extra bubble vials for the instrument's levels.
G— Vial — Long, replacement for the level underneath the telescopic site.
H — Vial — Small, replacement for the small bubble—level.
I — Vial — Small, second replacement for the small bubble—level.
J — Eyepiece — screws into the reticle end of the scope. It is carried on a threaded attachment mounted to the inside of the carrying case door.
