Instrument:
Small rectangular silver metal instrument. Has a metal moveable ring in the bottom middle. There is a switch inside the ring that says: "x5000" (on left) and "x1000" (on right), "GAMMA". Below ring it says: "Made in Finland. At top it says: "S0123, Kimball" (the 'ba' are rubbed off).

Case:
Brown leather case, snaps close. The middle part of the case is bubbled out to make room for the metal ring.

Tag:
Manilla tag, says: "Magnetometer, Does not work, 15/June/78, ALK".

Used to identify areas with rock that is high in some iron minerals.
Notes:
Kimball worked at the Juneau Mineral Information Center into the early 1980s.
