The other end splits into two segaments each with a metal clip which also attaches to the wooden rapture pad when worn. Stamped in black in on back of main section of the elastic truss is text reading: "1E53 34"
B: Extra elastic stap. Green and gray striped with metal clasp at one end.
C: Cardboard box which contained parts A—C. Box is mainly colored dark green with the corners and edges a light tan color. On one end of box there is a white label with green text reading: "DELUXE QUALITY \ ELASTIC TRUSS \WITH WON'T SLIP PAD \ RIGHT SIDE \ 53—6840 34 \ Distributed by \ MONTGOMERY WARD & CO., Chicago, Ill."
D: Instructional document. Paper is yellow—tan in color and has brown typed text. Illustration of who to wear the truss also on document. Text reads: "How to Wear \ OUR FINEST ELASTIC TRUSS \ CATALOG NO. 53—6840 \ Read This Carefully Before Wearing \ For convenience in packing, \ Our Finest Elastic Truss has \ been boxed with the rupture \ pad turned out of position. \ Before wearing the truss turn \ the pad to the correct posi— \ tion (see Picture) and tighten \ the adjustment screws with a \ screw driver. Do not unfasten \ any buckles or clasps. \ * The adjustment screws in \ the rupture pad are loose \ enough so that the pad may \ be rotated or turned to any \ desired position. To arrange \ the front pad in proper posi— \ tion turn it until it is almost at a right angle to the elastic \ band as shown in the Picture. When the pad has been \ arranged as instructed above, the understrapwill extend \ downward from the body band. With a screw driver \ tighten all adjustment screws so pad remains firmly \ in place. \ * The best way to put on this truss is to "step into" it. \ With both hands hold the truss directly in front of you with \ the round surface of the pad toward you. Step into the \ circle formed by the elastic body band, making sure the \ right leg passes through the loop formed by the narrow \ elastic understap. Pull truss over hips to the position \ indicated in the Picture. The pad should rest on your body \ at the rptured spot. Tighten elastic body band and under— \ strap to ratin the rupture and give maximum comfort. \ * The lump of the raputre should be entirely presssed into \ the abdoment before the truss is put on. \ * Do not wear your truss too low. The higher on your \ body the truss can be worn and still reatin the rupture \ the better it will be. Tighten all screws before wearing. \ MONTGOMERY WARD \ "Wardhelp" No. 53—76".
