Cardboard box used to hold postcards (2014.11.035—2014.11.049). There used to be brown packing tape holding the two parts of the box together; the tape has been cut at the seam of the box. There is a faded white merchandising tag on exterior face of top. At the top of this tag there is red typed text reading: The red text reads: CONTENTS MERCHANDISE \ POSTERMASTER OR EXPRESS AGENT: THIS PARCEL MAY BE OPENED FOR POSTAL INSPECTION IF \ NCECESSARY. DO NO FORWARD. IF NOT DELIVERED IN FIFTEEN DAYS RETURN TO SENDER. \ RETURN POSTAGE GUARANTEED. FAGILE". Below the red text is a read box with white text reading :"FROM THE \ H.H. TAMMEN \ COMPANY \ 17th & Larimer Sts. DENVER, COLO." and "TRADE MARK \ EST. 1881". Below the red box are four red horizontal lines and on which black typed text reads: "Paul A. Bloedhorn \ Juneau \ Alaska". Along the bottom edge of the tag is additional red text reading: "PATENT 1534478—P". There is also a handwritten number "15" on the same red line as "Paul A. Bloedhorn". On the exterior face of the bottom is a white postage tag with purpel ink. There are three stamps on the postage tag. One is a double circle with the text "DENVER \ OCT 29 '37 \ COLO." The other two are square standard postage stamps one with the amount of ".06" cents and one with the amount of ".09" cents. Exterior sides of both the top and bottom as well as all interior faces of box are blank.
Notes:
George Osborne worked at Paul A. Bloedhorn's jewelry and watch repair shop in Juneau. The box contained sample postcards which were for sale in the shop for tourists.
