Barnacle (Balanus Evermann)
Description:
Large, tall barnacle has very thick wall plates, two of which have nose—like projections at the top. Off—white with much orange and brown stains and colorations. Gold and brown overlays inside. Base has been sawed off on bottom.
Notes:
No common name. Found only in deep waters. Also found in fossil form in Pleistocene deposits around Back Loop Road.
