Title:
The View of Khabarovsk (trans.)
Artist — Creator:
Smirnov, V.A.
Date:
1986
Description:
Landscape painting. Green trees in the foreground. Buildings in the center of the frame including two large skyscraper—type structures. Buildings in the rest of the city fade off into the horizon. Top half of the frame is the sky. There are large cumulous clouds low in the sky. The top, proper right corner of the canvas is without clouds.

Plaque on frame, lower pl corner reads: TO THE ACTORS FROM ALASKA. BEST MEMORIES OF KHABAROVSK! 17—18.10.86
Notes:
Khabarovsk is the capital of Kabarovsk territory, Russia. It is the largest city east of Lake Baikal (2006).

The documentation present seems to indicate that the "Alaska Performing Artists for Peace" visited Khabarovsk on 17 and 18 October, 1986 and were given this painting.

Plaque has fallen off and is in the document folder. (AEF Mar, 2007)
