Description:
Hand drilling steel drill bit. Octagonal steer rod, flattened and sharpened to a chisel type bit on one end. The other end is mushroomed over where it has been struck with a hammer during use.
Notes:
Object was found in the garage at the Jensen—Olson Arboretum by Merrill Jensen in June, 2008. This is the type of tool that would be used in "Hand—Jacking" or hand drilling into hardrock ore.
