Steel Log Dog.
Steel implement which consists of a steel ring. On top of the ring is a rectangular flat protrusion designed to be struck with a hammer. On the bottom of the ring is a protrusion shaped like a spear head that comes to a point.
Object is corroded. The rectangular protrusion on top of the ring has been struck with something and peened over ever so slightly.

Log dogs such as these were/are used when rafting logs. They are pounded into a log when it is in the water, then a cable or chain is run through the eye. This is called a swifter line, and the swifter lines are used to hold the logs together in a raft.
