Description:
Assorted sampling of metal (one plastic) reflectors used on residential Christmas tree lights. Metal reflectors are punched and pressed tin cut out in various star shapes. All (except flat plastic reflector) are bent upwards to form dish shape. Most are painted silver, others are red, green and blue. Center holes, through which bulbs fit, are surrounded by five small prongs on some reflectors or a thin cardboard washer with toothed interior circumference on the remainder.
A) silver color metal, seven round—tip petals, punched design
B) silver color metal, eleven pointed—tip petals, punched design
C) silver color metal, twenty pointed—tip petals, pressed design, cardboard gasket
D) red color metal, five cut—out points plus five flower points, pressed design, cardboard gasket
E) gold color metal, eight rounded point petals, three cutouts between each petal, pressed design, cardboard gasket
F) green color metal, twenty pointed—tip petals, pressed design, cardboard gasket
G) blue color metal, twenty pointed—tip petals, pressed design, cardboard gasket
H) red plastic, five point star
Inscription: "12/PAT. NO. 2.486.636/OTHER PAT.PEND." around interior light bulb hole.
Notes:
Used by Vera L. Parke on the family Christmas tree. Metal reflectors were probably acquired in the late 1930's and were used by the family through the 1960's. Plastic reflectors were purchased in the late 1940's (patent date late 1940's).
