Rectangular Hinged—Top Painted Metal Picnic Basket with Bentwood Handles

Description:
Rectangular picnic basket made of tinned ferrous sheet metal. Hinged lid. Two rotating bentwood handles riveted to basket. Vent holes punched into back side of basket. Brown and tan painted (lacquered) basket—weave pattern over exterior of basket sides and top. Basket seams and edges folded and rolled. Lid fits over "basket" tightly like a storage tin.
Notes:
Owned and used by Vera L. and Thomas S. Parke and family during 1930's through 1950's for family picnic outings. Red plastic dishes and silverware with red plastic handles were the picnic ware kept for use with this "basket."
Cleaned with warm water, dish soap and soft cloth. Dried.
