Red, blue,and white printed cardboard box with 134 green, cork—lined bottling caps. Box bottom flaps glued closed.
Inscription: On front and back of box:
"ONE GROSS/DOUBLE/LACQUERED/BULLDOG/TRADE MARK/REGISTERED/HOME/USE/BOTTLE CAPS/Grip Tight/Seal Right/NO SOAKING NECESSARY"
On box ends:
"ONE GROSS/BULLDOG/Trade Mark Registered/SUPERIOR QUALITY/HOME USE/BOTTLE CAPS/These caps are made from/the best materials — Clean/and sanitary — Ready for use./GRIP TIGHT/SEAL RIGHT/FOR BOTTLING/FRUIT JUICES/VINEGAR/CATSUP — ETC./CUPPLES CO./ST. LOUIS"
Notes:
Owned and used by Vera L. and Thomas S. Parke and Family. Used with bottle capper (2001.27.016) during late 1930's through 1950's. Primary use was to bottle root beer.
Box cleaned with vacuum and soft cloth. Bottle caps dusted with soft cloth. Some scratches on lacquer surface of caps and otherwise in new condition.
