Indestro Metal Bottle Capping Tool with Wood Block

Description:
Indestro chrome(?) plated metal bottle capping tool (A) with wood block set on base. Simple inverted Y—shaped form riveted to base of tool. Racheting mechanism at top of "Y" attaches handle and capper to allow leveraged pressure to seat cap onto bottle. Spring return on leverage mechanism. Three holes in base plate for mounting tool. Wood block (B) is broken piece of a 4—inch length of 2—inch by 4—inch board (1.625 inches by 3.25 inches by 4 inches). Rubber gasket in capping cup.
Inscription: On handle: "Indestro/PAT. NOV.—21—1921"
On rachet mechanism: "PAT. PEND."

Notes:
Owned and used by Thomas S. and Vera L. Parke and their children. Likely acquired in the mid 1930's and used through the late 1950's. Primary use was to bottle root beer.

Cleaned with warm water, dish soap and soft cloth. Dried thoroughly. Lightly coated with 3 in 1 oil. Wood block washed and dried.
