Description:
Five—stamp mill in three parts supported by wood beams.
A — Five vertical rods have five solid iron cylindrical weights on upper ends and five shoes, similar iron cylinders, on lower ends. Large wooden 1—inch wind pulley wheel high on left rotates horizontal rod with rotating hooks or cams which allow camshafts to move up and down. Upper center weight missing and far right one lowered. Center shoe has broken with one—third of it remaining. Back has empty slots for screens. Inscription in white lettering on front.
B — Belt connects below to gear with flat cylindrical pulley wheel on left, horizontal rod connection to spoked wooden wheel with cups indicating it was water—driven. Inscription on bolts of bases.
C — Behind is nozzle approximately .75 inches with shut—off wheel on top. Used to wash ore through screen. Inscription on bolts of bases.

Notes:
Used for crushing ore. First used at Treadwell & Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co. mines. Stored at Silver Bow Basin, restored by Echo Bay Mines and moved to Sandy Beach. Treadwell Mine Historic Trail map and guide in document file has drawing and explanation of how mill operates.
It was repaired by City crews during summer of 2001.
