Title:
Mineral sample from perseverance glory hole
Description:
A mineral sample from the Perseverance Glory Hole. It is a large block of quartz with a smattering of what might be bornite. The quartz is very white with some rust "dots". The other mineral, bornite, is iridescent in color and appears in several ribbons throughout the granite.
Notes:
Friend of donor climbed in the hole and retrieved sample. Bornite ID from geologist Mike Blackwell, who says the bornite is also called "peacock ore" for its iridescence.
