Head and shoulders of mature bald eagle with brown body, light brown head, yellow eye, open yellow beak, pink tongue extended. Five eagle heads with dark gray beaks and brown eyes appear in front, two to right and three to left of adult eagle. Their beaks are closed except the top eagle's beak on left. The background is unpainted. Painting extends off bottom of sheet. Outer mat is cream; watercolor paper is "float" mounted on inner cream mat; polished silver metal frame with glass. CBJ Property #04558.
Inscription: "A MUNRO 1979" in gray paint in upper left corner.
Watermark "Arches France" in lower right & upper left.
Notes:
Acquired by Juneau Centennial Committee. According to the artist the painting illustrates "the Queen Spirit of Eagles who creates & nurtures her daughters, the five generations of Juno. Born to reign over all mortal souls to be found residing there, 1 generation succeeds the other until a full cycle is ended". The legend ends with the winter solstice & the "Royal Highnesses" embarkation on their journey into a new era."

In a conversation with the artist on 2/24/2011 he indicated that the "legend" of Juneau he wrote to go with the painting (above) was a spoof.
