Description:
Red mold—made hard cardboard soap box derby helmet w/ small bill, knob top & radiating molded seams reminiscent of baseball cap. 4 holes w/ metal grommets on each side. Blue, yellow & white decal on front features globe w/ car on top, ring around reads: "THE GREATEST AMATEUR RACING EVENT IN THE WORLD" w/ yellow eagle above & "1951 SOAP BOX DERBY" at top. Below, ribbon scrollwork reads "TURRET TOP BODY BY FISHER" & "CHEVROLET" logo. Inside stiff cardboard & fabric headband riveted to helmet by metal tension strips. Cotton twill chin strap w/ piping on edges & metal double back fastener buckle.
