Barton—American Fire Stream Calculator.
Cardstock slide rule in a manila envelope.
A — "Fire Stream Calculator." White cardstock printed on both sides. On the front is says "FIRE STREAM CALCULATOR" in red letters at top, justified to PL. Along the bottom is printed with black ink in a red background: "AMERICAN FIRE PUMP COMPANY...BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN, U.S.A." Front side of the slide rule is used to calculate the flow of water per minute by nozzle size.
The reverse of the slide rule is used to calculate the pounds of pressure loss, per 100 feet of hose, with different sizes of hose. At top PR is an image of a "Barton—American Midship Mounted Pump" at top PL is an icon for the American Fire Pump Company.

B — Manila envelope that the slide rule goes into. On the front at top is printed in black ink: "BARTON—AMERICAN FIRE STREAM CALCULATOR." Stamped to PR along the edge is the following: WESTERN STATES / FIRE APPARATUS / P.O. Box 65 Cornelius, Oregon Phone Elgin 7—3314."
Notes:
A slide rule such as this would be used by a pump operator during a fire to help ensure that the hoses were getting the proper nozzle pressure and to calculate the amount of water being used per minute.
