Description:
Indian village of wooden houses with 15 canoes on the beach in foreground. Located on point of land with trees behind cleared village site. Across channel of blue—green waters are green forested and distant blue mountains. Sky is misty gray. Simple wood frame with glass, blue inside mat, grey outside mat. CBJ Property #04531
Inscription: "Guyuc' c.j. Aceveda" in lower right.
Notes:
Acquired by Juneau Centennial Committee. Painting shows downtown Auk Indian Village of 1880's, site occupied in 1980 by Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall. Water line was changed by fill from mines. Based on photograph.
