Description:
Square laminated wood plaque with pointed bottom and beveled edges featuring gold—colored metal. Has hemisphere of globe topped by soap box derby car figure (decorative scrollwork under wheels) and curved plexiglass strip across equator reading: "THE T. H. KEATING AWARD / 1951 SOAP BOX DERBY / THE GREATEST AMATEUR RACING EVENT IN THE WORLD". Badge—shaped metal plate screwed at top reads: "SOAP BOX DERBY", with stars above, stripes and soap box derby car below — in red, white, and blue paint. Blue metal "CHEVROLET" logo screwed onto plaque beneath globe. Bottom is silver—colored metal plate reading "CITY CHAMPION / LE ROY WEST JR / JUNEAU, ALASKA". Name engraved separately. Metal mounting hook on back.
