From the collection of Mary Ann Parke. Buttons were kept as souvenirs of annual Salmon Derby in Juneau, Alaska. Derby was a three day event held by Territorial Sportsmen, Inc. to collect fish for commercial resale. Proceeds were used for scholarships for Juneau—Douglas High School graduates studying natural sciences, particularly biological sciences.
1953 button collected and preserved by Mike Blackwell and given to Mary Ann Parke to complete her collection.
Derby started in 1947. Buttons started in 1952.
