Description:
White scallop—edged plate with gilt rim. Outside border (1.5 inch) is transfer printed 1917 calendar in light brown squares with dark brown print. Calendars are broken into quarters, with Jan. — March a bottom of proper right. Flags before and after each triad: Admiral's flag on brown pole, blue with 4 white stars; flag of secretary of Navy, on brown pole, blue with 4 white stars and white anchor; 48 star American flag in red, white and blue, surrounded by 19 and 17 in blue; President's flag, blue with brown and red eagle; & Union Jack with 48 stars on blue field. Each flag has it's name printed beneath it. Calendars are surrounded by blue and brown square and rectangle border. Center design is brown haired woman with blue eyes and brown dress with ivory ruffle. Her hair is curled and shoulder length with blue ribbon. Dress is in style from 1770s(?) with square neckline. Gilt line between drawing and border that tapers off on both sides so it has 1 inch gap at bottom. Gilt inscription at bottom reads: "COMPLEMENTS OF SCANDINAVIAN GROCERY / J.H. RANDLE, PROP., / JUNEAU, ALASKA".
Back inscription: "D.E. MCNICHOL / EAST LIVERPOOL, O." in green print.
