Description:
Wood Engraving Block
Large two—sided woodcut. One side of the woodcut has a native girl in a thick knee length coat with a hood standing on a glacier with mountains in the backgrounds. The birds are flying up and around her and her hand is raised as if she is showing them the way. She has a serene smile on her face and her two braids are lifted into the wind. She is wearing moccasin of sorts as well. The scene is framed to the left and right with as thick dark border in which fish, ducks and whales are carved into. The word 'canceled' is carved into the bottom of the woodcut. The stain used was a dark black wash.

The flip side has the image of a tiger stalking through the grass. Tall weeds surround him on both sides and a grassy scene is beneath his feet. His stripes are delineated in the woodcut and his tail loops between his legs. Great chunks of wood have been carved from the scene leaving only the tiger scene and two other miscellaneous chunks of wood. A dark brown wash is used on this woodcut.

On one edge of the piece, 'Artic Spring Time' and 'Dale DeArmond' are written in ink. On the opposite edge, 'Illustation (Partial) for Cricket Magazine — Chinese Fairy Tale — Tiger and the Fox' is also written in ink.
