Title:
Large metal and glass lantern
Description:
A metal lamp with a glass wind—blocker. The piece is made up of several pieces, but all pieces are securely placed and will probably not be removed. The base is a piece of metal that is circular in shape that raises up into a smaller circular piece that then has a dome top and a opening in the middle for the lamp filament to go through. This base is where the oil is put in and housed. On the back of the lamp is a small opening with a screw—on cap. Stamped into the base is, "E.T. Wright Ltd." and "No. 4" and "CB". The filament housing is connected through the hole of the base. It is several pieces all interlocked and allows the textile filament to be raised or lower through a small wire crank. The filament comes up through a housing that appears like a small dome with a large slit cut in the middle of it. Resting upon the filament housing a tyeh wing—guard glass which is bulbous near its base then tapers slightly towards the top. Embossed on its side, near the top is, "Made in Canada". The glass is keep in place by a spring covering on top which is the top housing. This top housing has a series of small perforations which allow the transfer of oxygen into the lamp. This top housing can be pulled up by pulling on a wire handle on the top. This housing is kept in place a circular housing of its own that connects to two circular hollow rods that connect from, this top housing to the base. Also the glass is kept in place by two wire guides that surround the glass on either side and connect to the side rods. Finally there is a wire handle that hangs loosely from the top.
