Black and white photographic print of a man standing in a cargo hold on the deck of a ship. His back is turned to the camera and a profile view of his face is visible. His right arm is lifted and his hand is in a fist. There is a hook with a hanging rope to his right. Another man stands on the deck in the background. That man is only visible up to his waist. Image has a white boarder around all four sides. A circular stamp on the back has text which reads: "PASSED BY US BASE 1733 ARMY EXAMINER". Back has two sections of black paper and tape where the photograph was once attached to an album page. One in the upper proper left corner and on in the lower proper right corner.
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
