A: Black and white photographic print of a man standing on the deck of ship next to an overturned liferaft and some covered cargo. An American flag hangs from the ship's instrument mast. Snow covered mountains in the background. Image has a white boarder around all four sides. A circular stamp on the back has text which reads: "PASS U BASE 1733 ARMY EXAMINER". Back has two sections of black paper and tape where the photograph was once attached to an album page. One is at approximately center and covers part of the stamp; the other is approximately center along the lower edge.

Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
