Date:
1972
Description:
Color photograph of the old bridge over Gastineau Channel from Juneau to Doulgas.
The bridge takes up most of the photo and runs from the proper left to the proper right. The perspective is from Douglas Island to Juneau. The mountains behind Juneau are visible in the background. The bridge is more intricate than the new bridge with columns on either side and over the top. A red building is on the bottom of the photo and there are bushes in the proper left bottom corner. The building is a residence. There are two cars visible starting to cross the bridge and two people standing on the side of the bridge looking to the proper left over the channel. The sun is shining on the bridge from the proper right and casts it in a golden light making the bridge seem the same color. The shore on the Juneau side is visible underneath the bridge and has several buildings on it. Residences are aslo visible on the Juneau side to the proper left of the bridge. There are also lightposts on either side of the bridge.
Notes:
Shot with Exacta Verex camera, which the photographer got 2nd hand in New York City.
