A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "AK Coastal Airway Fire Cole Dock Aug 20 1950" in handwriting. The image shows the Juneau waterfront, with a long pier stretching into the channel. A sign on the outward side of the pier reads "Alaska Coastal Airlines". To the left of this, a large portion of the docks is ablaze, the conflagration reaching many feet high and billowing dark smoke into the sky. To the left of the blaze, several outbuildings are visible, and in the background, unnamed mountains loom. The number "12" is imprinted on the frame at the upper left. The text "744—E1" is printed on the top edge in black ink.
