A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "P.A.A. + Salmon Derby Sportman Float — 7/4/56" in handwriting. The image shows an unknown street in Juneau along the parade route, with industrial buildings of corrugated metal standing at left. The promotional Pan Am float with the tropical theme and women in grass skirts is traveling away from the camera, exiting the periphery at right. At left, the Golden North Salmon Derby float with the mermaids is catching up. In the distant background, the old steel trestle Juneau—Douglas Bride is visible, as well as the mountains of Douglas Island. The number "17" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
