Description:
Photograph found in the Baranoff Hotel Album (2013.14.001)

Black and white photograph from the opening of the Baranof Hotel of various natives inside the hotel. They are all dressed in native garb, surrounding a native man. The photo captures the man striking a pose, with his right hand holding an object bent and at about head—level. His left arm is extended out in front of him, hand grasping a string attached to a black bag resting on the ground. To the proper left of the black bag appears to be a folded up blanket (?) with native designs on it. Seen in the background are two empty chairs and a lamp. Standing in the background on the proper right are non—natives standing by a door, watching. Above the door is a sign that reads "BASEMENT \ LOBBY" A white border surrounds the photograph. On the bottom right corner of the border is "Roger Dudley \ SEATTLE" printed in ink.

On the reverse, handwritten in pencil is the number "45"
