Black and white photographic print of five men standing on the bow of a ship. One man at center is bent over looking down. All men are in military garb. Rope and a pulley system is visible on deck. A snow covered mountainous landscape, water, and other water vessels are seen in the back ground. Image has a white boarder around all four sides. Back has two sections of black paper and tape where the photograph was once attached to an album page. One location in the upper proper left corner and one in the lower proper right corner. There is a stamp with text that reads: "REJECTED".
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
