Place:
Juneau, Alaska
Date:
July 4, 1959
Year Range from:

Year Range to:
1959
Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Sons of Norway Float 7—4—59" in handwriting. The image shows an unknown street in Juneau, with a low brown structure with a peaked roof on the far side of the street, and mountains extending across the background. Power lines cut through the top of the image at right.. A float is traveling along the street toward the left, probably a flatbed pulled by an unseen truck. The lower portion is striped in blue, white, and red, while the upper part has railings decorated with garlands. The people on the float are dressed traditionally, it would seen, and a couple of them hold United States flags. The number "1" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
