Black and white photographic print of four men working on an engine. On the engine the word "Packard" is visible. The men are moving the engine. The engine is suspended with a cable and hook. There are two men only partly visible in the background. They are standing above the engine. There is one man toward the proper right edge wearing a white hat and military garb. His right hand is on the engine, while his left is holding onto a railing on the ship as if bracing himself. Only the hand of the fourth man is visible in the foreground. Image has a white border around all four sides. Back has two sections of black paper and tape where the photograph was once attached to an album page. One location in the upper proper left corner and one in the lower proper right corner. There is a circular stamp located on the back of the image with text reading: "PASSED BY US BASE 1733 ARMY EXAMINER".
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
