Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Mt Jumbo + Bureau Mines Bldg. 4—23—59" in handwriting. The image shows the southeastern edge of Douglas Island, near the ruins of the Treadwell Mine. In the foreground, the waters of the Gastineau Channel lead to the island's shores. Above the ruined buildings situated in the lower hills, large snowcapped mountains loom. The number "10" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
