Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "Juneau from Mt. Roberts trail 8/23/64" in handwriting. The image shows an aerial view of the Gastineau Channel and Douglas Island beyond it. Downtown Juneau is laid out in the foreground, sprawled across the flat area at the base of the mountain. Several wide thoroughfares are discernable, and it is possible that the winding one toward the right is Franklin Street. The still unfinished Federal Building can be seen toward the waterfront at center. Many other structures, both still extant and not, are visible in the area. Beyond this in the background, the Gastineau Channel and Douglas Island are visible. The number "6" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
