Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency" and front logo for Perfect Photo, Inc.). The frame is labeled "Democratic Picnic 8—11—68 Douglas Beach" in handwriting. The image shows an eastward looking view of a wide sandy beach with the Gastineau Channel and mainland Juneau beyond. The beach extends from the foreground to the middling area where it meets the Channel. A number of people are walking, sitting, and milling around on the beach. The Channel appears narrow due to the flat angle of the image, and the Juneau shore south of downtown looms heavily above it. The number "15" is printed in ink on the frame at the lower right, and the text "AUG68" is etched on the lower edge, possibly signifying the date of development.
